So my first week of the 'Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design' course has passed so quickly. I´m studying Module 1 which is basically a beginners course; introducing us to pattern, how to find inspiration for our designs and finally putting it all together as a finished piece, professionally and ready for print.
What I love about this course so far is how we can be in touch through Facebook with fellow students and how everyone is so supportive and enthusiastic. Also, it´s great that the tutors check in from time to time and add comments and give encouragement.
This first week brought us a valuable insight into Abigail Borg´s working life as a surface pattern designer and of course Rachael Taylor´s behind the scenes interview too. Personally, it´s been great to just get back into drawing and hopefully start developing my own style.
Below are a few drawings that I´ve been working on this week and developing motifs. Now I need to start playing around with them in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
